if I open a file from a server (open url), when the file opens my curser is gone. I have to either click (which i rarely use my mouse so that's annoying) or alt-tab away and back again.

This version of Zeus is a very old. Does this also happen with the current Zeus 3.95t versionthis is windows XP with Zeus 3.94a
To test this just install the latest shareware version: http://www.zeusedit.com/download.html
But make sure you DO NOT install this version over your current Zeus installation. You must install the shareware version in a new, clean directory.
