I'm trying to set up a document type so that the tab and indent are both always 4 characters. No matter what I do, the first tab goes to column 5. I checked the editor options and didn't find anything regarding this. How do I change it?
Thanks.
Change Tab so that the first tab doesn't go to column 5
Just set the tab size for 4 and then indent to 0.I'm trying to set up a document type so that the tab and indent are both always 4 characters.
The indent value when defined (ie not set to 0) defines the size of the first tab only. With no indent defined the first tab defaults to the tab size.
In other words the indent value only makes sense when the first tab needs to move the cursor an amount not equal to a single tab.

Thanks. I actually wanted the first tab to be 8, so I set the indent to 7 and it works perfectly. Thanks for the response.
One of my buddies says Multi-Edit is the greatest. Is there a comparison between it and Zeus?

I have not seen a direct comparison between Zeus and Multi-Edit.One of my buddies says Multi-Edit is the greatest. Is there a comparison between it and Zeus?
But on the topic of comparisons, this is Brad Olson's comparison of Zeus, UltraEdit and EditPadPro.
Here are some general comments recieved from Zeus users over the years.
This page tries to find the Best Text Editor, even though the review of the Zeus feature set is not 100 % accurate (ie Zeus can do column mode inserting and does provide recording of actions)

This page is a general comparison of text editors based on feature set.
