you are right! if i "window/close" a file, it gets added to the mru list.

i seldom "window/close" a file, i click on the little "x", and then save? yes or no. in this case, the mru list does not get updated

likewise, if i "file/save" and then "x" the mru list is not updated.

re: spam

there is a spam blocker named "qurb" that some people, myself included, like.

it operates on a very simple principle: it "quarantines" any email that is not from an email address that you have approved.

then you can display the quarantined list and accept some and dump the rest to a folder named "qurb". i find that it easy to scan the list because it appears that spammers routinely use what appear to be randomized email addresses that are easy to recognize.

I will do a little testing just to make sure there isn't a bug lurking in there somewhere.
