Very slow editing files over slow network link

Zeus is very slow when editing a file over a slow network link. Be it just moving the cursor, typing, pasting, whatever, it can take over 30 seconds for a response at times, and I can definitely type faster than it appears. If I copy the file locally zeus is quick and responsive.

Zeus 3.97c on Win7 32bit, 4gb ram, p4 3ghz dual core.
The network link is attached to a samba share on a linux box. Browsing files with explorer is snappy and has no problems.
I can open and edit files in VIM or Notepad without any performance issues.

Please help

If did a Google search for windows samba file access slow and based on the results it looks Zeus is not the only application with this issue :(

I am pretty sure that because of an ever changing Microsoft network layer, Samba is just struggling to keep up with all these changes or maybe it just does not cover the entire Microsoft Win32 API.

Having said that, Zeus does not do anything special in the way of file handling.

Zeus only uses the access Standard C library function and these Win32 API functions none, FileFindFirst, FileFindNext and that is about it.

So I am not sure why these parts of the Win32 would not be covered by Samba.

I've tried out the beta you sent me. And it seems very responsive.

I can't use this version as my reg# has expired since the v3.97e update.

I've have to put up with v3.97c until i can upgrade to the new version.
