Hello,

I am trying out 3.95 in preparation for updating from 2.70 and have a question about the Find dialog and selecting text using cntl-f.

On 2.70 with the Simple keyboard I could open the Find dialog box, browse the text, double click on text to select it, and then cntl-f to paste it into the Find dialog. I use that a lot and can't seem to find (no pun intended) how to get 3.95 to behave the same way. It seems to require a cntl-c and then scoping the Find dialog and doing a cntl-v.

Can anyone provide or direct me to a solution?

I thought this was default Zeus behaviour even in version 3.95

The SearchWordCurrent Zeus keyboard function should display the find dialog and pre-fill the find text edit field with the current word or the currently marked text. So for example if you did the following:

1. Place the cursor on a work
2. Select the Macro Execute Script menu
3. Typed in SearchWordCurrent
4. Hit the run button

The find dialog would get displayed with the word under the current cursor. If you repeated these steps but instead marked a small region of text then the marked text would be displayed in the resulting dialog.

So what you need to do is use the Options, Editor Options menu and in the Keyboard Mapping section edit the currently active keyboard, binding the Ctrl+F key to the SearchWordCurrent function.

But as I said before, I though the Ctrl+F key was already bound to the SearchWordCurrent

I read the previous post differently than you, probably because I have a complaint which I believe is the same as the poster.

The Find dialog only makes the current selected text the default search string when it is first opened. I would like an easier way to change the text search string *while* the find dialog is open besides control-C in the text window, mouse click in the find dialog, followed by Control-V. Pressing control-F or double clicking in a text window *while* the search dialog is open should change the default text string.

Re-reading the original post I now understand what you and the original author are suggestion

What through me a bit was I never remembered the 2.70 find in files being any different to the current version, but I guess it was quite some time ago.

In any case I will look to add this feature to the current version.

Jack, thanks for recognizing what I was asking. Jussi, you are right that the keyboard is mapped that way but Jack has identified that it's a one time function and not available after the dialog box opens. The way it worked in 2.70 would be sorely missed if I update to the latest version.

This feature will be in the next Zeus patch which should be ready within the month
