puzzling font behaviour

I noticed that when I change the font from regular to bold, the code text responds appropriately, but the comment text becomes compressed to the point of being unreadable. This is just a generic C file. Is there some other setting that I need to be aware of?

thanks,
Glen

Hi Glen,
the comment text becomes compressed to the point of being unreadable.
Can you tell me which version of Zeus you are running and which font you have selecting :?:

Yes, it is version 3.96s. I downloaded and installed it just today.
I am using Lucida Console, 9 point font.

I downloaded and installed it just today.

Since the latest version is 3.97 that link must be out of date :(

To upgrade you version just install the patch found here: http://www.zeusedit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2647

As a test Iset the font to Lucida Console 10 point and set the line/block comments to bold/itallic styles but for me they displayed correctly :?

Can you try another font?

I downloaded the patch but when I tried to install it I got messages for most of the dll's saying they were password protected. I installed what I could but when I restarted it still said it was version 3.96s. I tried the other fonts, the problem seems to occur only with Lucida Console, MS Linedraw and Terminal fonts.

thanks,
Glen

Hi Glen,
I noticed that when I change the font from regular to bold, the code text responds appropriately, but the comment text becomes compressed to the point of being unreadable.

I think I have managed to replicate this issue ;)

If I am seeing what you're seeing, it is caused by the comment text having a style of regular even though you have selected bold as the base font.

NOTE: The base font setting is set using the Options, Editor Options menu, Fonts panel where as the comment style font settings are found in the Coloring section of the document type.

For this particular font the width of the bold font is much larger than the width of the regular font and hence the reason for what you are seeing.

To fix this just go to the Coloring section of the document type, select the line comment category and tick on the bold font style for this keyword category.

Yes, that resolved the issue.

I didn't realize the fonts controls were in two places...

Thanks for your prompt tech. support!
