Re: Save All files, not producing .bak files for updated files

That does look like a bug, which, if confirmed should be fixed in the next release. One workaround would be to use a script attached to the file save trigger and have the script write the backup. There is and example of just such a script here: http://www.zeusedit.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=691...

Re: Searching for \n

By design, the default search (i.e. even with regular expression turned off) recognises the \n mnemonic. The same is true for the '\t' tab character. So this means if you want to search for the \ character you need to delimit that character. In other words to search for: \n will require the followin...

I'm not sure which version add this feature, but it is definitely there in the find dialog in the current version.

GNU Cobol 2.2 Setup Secrets

Trying to get GNU COBOL to work on Windows appears to be a bit of a black art :( Some time ago these setup instructions where written and obviously at that time they worked since they produced an executable and that executable ran. I took those earlier instructions and did an update for the latest G...

Re: How to install zeus to edit and compile cobol programs

Zeus comes with a ze.cmd batch file that will try to automatically find the correct vsvars32.bat file.

Try using this batch file as described here: viewtopic.php?t=2707

Re: Two questions about Zeus

Isn't there a way to have the user enter his input in the same white output window that the program displays the program output?

That is possible if the editor redirects the user input.

Unfortunately Zeus does not have that feature :(

Re: Two questions about Zeus

Was wondering if there is a way to completely shut off that black external DOS window that appears briefly when you execute a .cpp file? Yes there is. Zeus is running the code using a macro. Now the reason you see some flicker is because Zeus doesn't know if the executable you are about to run will...

Re: Windows 10 Zeus crash with Lua

I am unable to get CVS going at all. I can confirm that the CVS plug-in is currently not working. This should be fixed by the time of the next release due at the end of the month. Cheers Jussi PS: For an alternative source control option there is also the Agent SVN Subversion plug-in found here . T...

Re: What is involved in making a GUI program?

The first thing about GUI applications is they depend entirely on the GUI layer being used. For example for Java there are at least two GUI options in Swing and SWT. For C++ there are several including Win32, MFC, Qt and wxWidgets. For C# the two common options are WinForms and WPF. For scripting la...

Running C Programs in Zeus

Consider this simple test.c program: #include <stdio.h> int main() { printf("Hello World.\n\n"); printf("Press Any Key to Continue......\n"); getchar(); return 0; } If you compile, link and run this code inside Zeus you'll be presented with a console window that is empty. Inside that console window ...

Here is a nice, concise tutorial on using the GCC compiler, including a nice introduction into the use of make files: https://www3.ntu.edu.sg/home/ehchua/programming/cpp/gcc_make.html This is the sort of information needed when getting Zeus to work with the GCC toolset, including MinGW and TDM compi...
