The suggested fix of using a new xtags.dll which uses an 8.3 filename sounds like a good solution. However, the current file at http://www.zeusedit.com/z300/xtags.zip does not appear to change this. The xtags.dll was changed but, after some more research into the bug it turns out the changes made w...

I could not replicate this error on a Windows XP and a Windows Me machines. To recreate the bug I created a 'Test' workspace in the temp directory and then add this 50 character file for the worksace: c:\temp\file_1234567890123456789012345678901234567890.java For me the tagger ran without error and ...

Using the Workspace to Configure Third Party Tools

Third party tools can be configured using the document type as is outlined in the Configuring Zeus to Run a Third Party Compiler tip. If is also possible to use the project/workspace feature to run third party tools. The project/workspace can be used to run compile, build, build all, clean and execu...

Unfortunately this looks like a bug with ctags.exe :( This is why it does not work. If you look at the Zeus class browser window you will see the tagCANCfg structure is defined and this sturcture does intellisense. For example if you change the example code to read as follows: void main (void) { CAN...

This is probably a very primitive question, but I am just starting wih programming and pascal. I had a very easy program, but when I try to compile, I get the message: "The compile has failed as no compiler has been defined for the c:\....\myprogram.pas file extension." What does that mean and how ...

Configuring Zeus to Run a Third Party Compiler

The first step in this process requires the creation/editing of a document type for the file. For more details on what this means see the Zeus Configuration Model . With a document type defined all that remains is to configure in the third party tool. This can be done as following: Use the Workspace...

Zeus Configuration Model

The configuration of Zeus falls into two categories. The first of these categories is the general editor options found under the Options, Editor Options menu. These options, as the name suggests, control the overall behaviour of the editor and include settings like global settings, keyboard mappings...

Does code completion only work with classes? I tried it with structures and it doesn't work. The short answer is yes Zeus should support structures but unfortunately in reality things are never quite so simple :( Zeus uses the Exuberant Ctags utility to generate the tags database. This tagger does ...

F1 key causes GPF

If the F1 key is pressed while a dialog box or configuration panel is open, a general protection fault is generated :(

The work around for this bug is to use the help button or the Alt+H keyboard shortcut to display the help.

Java and Zeus File Navigation

The Zeus FileOpenInLine keyboard function is specifically designed to help with the navigation of source files. This function parses the current line for anything that might look like a file name and then tries to open the file for editing. For languages like c/c++ where there are large source files...

When you write a Function Call (eg. printf), the Editor could look up the corresponding parameters for this function and display them in a Tooltip like manner below the text written. As far as i know this feature is implemented in the MS Visual Studio Editor and it's very useful imho. The current v...

By reading all your macros in zScript I'm starting to get the hang
of it.
With a bit of practice I am sure you will soon get the hang of the Zeus macros :)

And if you run into a problem, just post a message to the forum and I will be happy to offer my assistance.
